A welcome relief to a visitor to a new city is a motel with a familiar name. I have always trusted the Best Western Motels and they did not disappoint this time. Not only were we fortunate enough to find a motel that was a Best Western but it had all the wonderful amenities that make it a nice place to stay. When we checked in, we were greeted by the owner. He was very knowledgeable of the area, gave us some great tips on places to visit and eat and made our stay one of the best I have had in a long time. The rooms were clean and attractively decorated. He made a concerted effort to keep our group together and made it easy for us to get breakfast in the morning and helped us by making it easier for us to park our truck and trailer. Overall, this Best Western stay was a must. I don't know that I would have found this much attention to our needs at any other hotel or motel that might have been in the area. Considering our comings and goings at all hours of the day and night, the management was exceptionally gracious.
There was nothing better than having a view like the one above from my motel room in the morning. Although it was considerably warmer than the South Bay Area in California, we had a motel room with a very good air conditioning system. The breakfast was the best I had ever had for a motel room. There was french toast, waffles, fruit, juices, cereals and breads available for our use. There was no one hurrying us out when we stayed past our 9 a.m. breakfast time making plans for the day.
It was the owner who approached us about the hauntings taking place in his motel. He asked if we were aware that they were occurring. Of course, I said no. I had not heard that there were hauntings going on, could he please elaborate. He did, readily giving me details and specifics on the two rooms that he has been having hauntings in. He told me that his maids have been speaking to him about rooms 108 and 208. These rooms are situated one above the other. He told me that the maids have been seeing the lights in the upper room, #208 go on or off or the TV would turn on or off when they went in. He said that if the maids happened to say something like, 'don't do that', it would stop in that top floor room and it would begin happening in the bottom floor room, #108.
When I approached the maid, Bertha, as instructed, she did tell me that the rooms were haunted in the same way that the owner told me. Bertha did tell me that the other maids had also seen what turned out to be half a man, basically just the upper torso, that appeared to the maids for quite a few years. She was not sure if that still occurred as it had not happened to her. It always seemed to happen to some of the long time maids who were no longer there. She had not heard any stories from the new maids.
Are rooms 208 and 108 haunted? You will only find out that answer if you are fortunate enough to stay in them. According to the maid who has been there for over 10 years, they are. According to the motel owner, they are. We tried to get into those rooms to put equipment in them but they were already promised to incoming guests. The owner would have given us that opportunity had that not been the case.
My suggestion? Go check out the Lookout Lodge in Tombstone, Arizona, whether you are passing by or staying for a visit. Let me know if it is truly haunted!!! Tell them the Ghost Trackers sent you.
