Questions -
Can I register a private group?
No. We made determinations from the first years' tours that no more private tours will be made.
Can I register a group for a month OTHER than the next available month on the calendar?
No. We want to keep it consistent and for efficiency purposes, reservations are taken on a month-by-month basis. We do not want anyone registering early for another month. We have had problems with that process and do not allow any private groups and do not allow registering early.
Do you supply equipment?
No. You are welcome to bring your own cameras, audio recorders, temperature sensors. We are not responsible for any equipment that is broken or stolen so this is at your own risk. We have NOT had any problems with broken or stolen equipment to this point. Electricity / power is an issue in the castle as there is little-to-none.
Do we have to sleep?
No. It is your choice if you want to sleep or not.
Where are we allowed to investigate?
You can investigate the grounds inside the fence and around the castle, the visitor's center, the garage/old solitary confinement area, the castle's basement, 1st floor and 2nd floor. There is no 3rd floor due to decomposition of the floor itself from weather over the years. You have no access to the upper areas of the castle as there are no floors to those areas.
Do we have to bring or use a sleeping bag, extra clothes or any of those things?
No. Those items are just for comfort. The use of a sleeping bag is for laying down and sleeping or napping or just relaxing. Extra clothes are for comfort. You can think of this as camping out.
What type of food is offered for dinner?
It depends. There has been sandwich platter, chicken wings, fruit platter, energy bars, cookie platter, macaroni salad, potato salad and various drinks that include water, juice and sodas.
Are we allowed to drink alcohol...or bring anything else?
There is to be absolutely NO alcohol, NO drugs (marijuana or otherwise) allowed on the grounds. If you are discovered with any of these things, you will be asked to leave the grounds without a refund in your registration fees. This is not the place for those things and safety is definitely an issue.
